Accident in Illinois Sends Six to Hospital- DUI Charges Pending
The driver of a van was exiting the Eisenhower Expressway when the van crashed, flipping over and coming to rest on the ramp. Six people were injured in the accident. The driver and one passenger got out after the crash and ran from the scene. Police apprehended them shortly after.
Six passengers were taken to area hospitals. Three of the injured passengers were listed in serious to critical condition. Three others were treated for minor injuries.
The 19-year-old driver is facing multiple charges to include one DUI charge and two charges of child endangerment. The child endangerment charges stem from the fact that two of the passengers were minors. According to Illinois State Police District Chicago Trooper Ivan Bukaczyk other traffic-related charges may also be pending.
