Dear Hupy and Abraham,

The 2015 dual-sport riding season has become to a close. Both the Ride for Research in June, and the Big Woods 200 in September were fantastic events! This year we added an Adventure Bike route to both events, and the Big Wood 200 offered a new “Dual-Sport 101” guided beginner’s ride. These new options were well received by many happy, first-time participants.

In June, the Ride for Research raised $25.682 for the UW Carbone Cancer Center in Madison, Wisconsin. This money supports the daily work of the laboratory staff. Nine people from the lab attended, joined the fun, helped with the work, and thanked everyone for the support. It was special to meet them and hear about how we help support their efforts to cure cancer.

The Big Woods 200 was an absolute blowout with perfect weather and other 250 riders. Their amazing generosity raised $3,000 for the Wabeno Christian Food Pantry, $2,000 for the Laona City Recreation program, and $1,000 for the United Area Rescue Squad for a new defibrillator. We split the cost of the band for the Harvest Festival with the Wabeno Chamber of Commerce. We used the local American Legion post fund-raiser for lunch, and we hired the Wabeno Lion’s Club to feed us a delicious steak dinner. With your support we are able to make a significant impact to the north woods communities we ride in.

A special thank you goes out to Key Time, Team 2 Racing, Metro Motorcycles, MSR, and CJ Designs, for setting up displays with inventory and bikes and contributing to the exciting atmosphere.

None of this would happen without you, our sponsors. On behalf of our club members, event riders, the UW Carbone Cancer Center staff, and the Wabeno and Laona communities, we all thank you for your generous support!

Sincerely,

Perry Abitz
