scene of a car accident in MilwaukeeThe Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) has established and maintains an extensive website. They offer many services and vital information to those living in and traveling through the city. As a Milwaukee Car Accident Lawyer, I am most interested in parts of the site that pertain to car and traffic safety. Below, you will find important information available on the website.

Report a Milwaukee Car Accident One of Two Ways

There are really two ways to report a crash. The first, and generally more oft-used method, is to call the police and have them come to the scene (this is our highly recommended option).

However, if you have been involved in an accident on the Milwaukee County Freeway System during a weather emergency, you can go online and fill out an accident report form. This form must be submitted within 24 hours of the accident. Once the report is submitted, an officer will contact you within two business days to begin the accident investigation.

Regardless of which method you choose to take, it's very important to help your case as much as possible. This means taking pictures of the crash scene, documenting evidence, and getting the names and numbers of other witnesses if there are any. Keep in mind, you should not discuss what happened with those witnesses at the time of the accident, but it's important to have their contact info.

Where to Find Other Important Information on the MCSO Website

Car Seat Checks

The MCSD offers free car seat checks. They do so in order to help parents ensure a proper fit and installation of their car seat. In addition, the MCSO would like to lower the rates of child injury and death during a serious car accident. Currently, 4 out of 5 car seats are installed incorrectly. However, when installed correctly, car seats reduce the risk of infant death in a crash by 71%.

Accident Report Lookup

This page can be used to look up an accident. You may search by the name of someone involved in the crash, the report number or date of the accident.

The attorneys at the personal injury law firm of Hupy and Abraham believe that knowledge is power. By helping you file a timely police report, despite severe weather, we hope that any accident claim you make will help you get the compensation you deserve.
