Beginning November 1, 2009, all Wisconsin motor vehicle policies must contain a minimum of $10,000 in medical payment coverage.  However, this coverage can be rejected by the purchaser if done so in writing.  Medical payment coverage provides coverage for medical bills in the event of an accident, no matter if the accident was caused by another, or yourself.

We recommend that you do not reject this coverage, even if you have good health insurance, since co-payments and deductibles associated with medical procedures to treat significant injuries can rise to a staggering level.  It is vital to have a secondary source of coverage to pay these expenses in a time of need.
