The Western Pennsylvania Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation held its 14^th Annual Gala Event on April 29, 2006, at the Hilton Hotel in Pittsburgh. Approximately seven hundred people attended to make this event as good as it could possible get.

The major sponsor included GlaxoSmithKline, the law firm of Sherrard, German and Kelly, P.C., and Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield. Attorney Hupy’s sister-in-law, whose son has juvenile diabetes was the Gala chair.

Mary Tyler Moore is another supporter of this event. In her letter acknowledging the Western Pennsylvania Chapter’s efforts, she noted the admission of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation is to “find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research.”

For the last several years the Hupy family has attended this event to help raise money for this worthwhile cause.
