The support of Milwaukee-based law firm Hupy and Abraham has enabled the Wisconsin Breast Cancer Showhouse (WBCS) to provide $5.1 million to the Medical College of Wisconsin as they continue the fight against breast and prostate cancer. Since 2004, the firm has been a loyal supporter of the WBCS’s all-volunteer organization.

In 1998, WBCS was founded when it received a $42,000 donation to establish a formal grants program to fund additional breast and prostate cancer research at the Medical College of Wisconsin. As a result, WBCS has become the second largest annual philanthropic donor to the Medical College of Wisconsin Cancer Center.

A recent study by a scientist noted that obtaining a National Institutes of Health grant has become as difficult as gaining admission into Harvard. This underscores the need for philanthropic organizations like WBCS to bridge the gap and provide additional funding.

Thanks to the generous support of donors like Hupy and Abraham, WBCS has been able to provide this supplementary funding to continue the fight against breast and prostate cancer. WBCS has also established its own Laboratory for Breast Cancer Research.

In 2004, Attorney Michael Hupy and his family donated the home used as the Breast Cancer Showhouse and recently, Hupy and Abraham served as the presenting sponsor of the “2013 Pinktacular Salute to Survivors Fashion Show and Luncheon.” Attorney Hupy has felt honored to help this organization for almost ten years and will continue to do so in the future.
