$100,000 Donated to the NAACP Scholarship Program
On October 3, 2009, the Milwaukee branch of the NAACP held its annual Freedom Fund Dinner at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Milwaukee. The gala was attended by politicians, pastors, dignitaries, students, and all those committed to eliminating racial discrimination, securing equal job opportunities, and ending police brutality in our community.
Attorney Jason F. Abraham of Hupy & Abraham, a sponsor of the event, was warmly received by hundreds of guests who gathered to hear him speak about his recent settlement of the largest police brutality case in Wisconsin history. The settlement in the amount of $3 million, was for a man who was paralyzed by a Milwaukee police officer after a 2003 arrest. This settlement added to the firm's already legendary list of accomplishments.
It was in the same spirit of community service that Attorney Abraham presented a $10,000 check to the Milwaukee Branch of the NAACP that will go to local students as part of the NAACP Scholarship Program. Hupy & Abraham has donated well over $100,000 in scholarships over the past decade and firmly believes that education is one of the first steps in achieving political, educational, social and economic equality for all citizens.
Joining Attorney Abraham at the gala as representatives of Hupy & Abraham were Attorneys Tim Schelwat, James Shilobrit, Jason Richard, Evan Claditis and Marcel Reneau.
