Thank you for supporting COA Youth & Family Centers’ 2015 Parents of the Year Luncheon – This was a special day for our families. We were honored to receive the award and are very proud that our involvement could raise funds for such a deserving organization. Your participation was critical to the success of this event, which raised nearly $115,000 to be invested back into the community.
Family has always been at the heart of what COA does. Founded in 1906 by a group of women who sought to provide impoverished families with the means to achieve self-sufficiency, COA began as Milwaukee’s fest Settlement House. Today, COA continues to provide a holistic and family-centered continuum of early child, youth, and community development programs, reaching over 10,000 children and families a year.
During the event, we also heard from Ms. Clemtine Ford, a daily participant in COA’s Family Resource Center. Ms. Ford is a strong support system for her entire family, including 7 children and 20 grandchildren, and she understands the important role that parents play in the lives of their children. She consistently models positive and engaged parenting, and is committed to building a strong community in the Amani neighborhood. The funds raised from this event will continue to have an impact on many families just like the Fords.
