$3.5 Million Settlement for Family of Biker in One Year

On July 25, 2008, a seventeen year old motorist killed motorcycle rider Clinton Callahan, when she pulled out from a stop sign and into Mr. Callahan's path at the intersection of 128th Street and 47th Avenue in Pleasant Prairie, Kenosha County, Wisconsin.  Mr. Callahan was a husband and father of two.  He worked as an electrician at a local hospital and as a civilian employee for the Navy.

Attorney Jason Abraham was hired by Mr. Callahan's family and proceeded to settle the wrongful death case for more than $3.5 million.  Mr. Callahan's widow Randi will receive $1.1 million of the settlement.  His daughter will receive $1.7 million and his step-daughter will receive $175,000.  Attorneys fees will be paid separately by MetLife Insurance Company.  On July 27, 2009, Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Charles F. Kahn, Jr. approved the distribution to the minors.

Following the settlement, Mr. Callahan's case was the subject of a Milwaukee Journal Sentinel article by reporter Marie Rohde.  The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel recently ran another article about the alarming increase in Wisconsin motorcycle fatalities.  That article quoted Attorney Abraham. who stated "If people weren't so preoccupied when driving, there wouldn't be nearly as many of these types of crashes."

The Callahan family is extremely grateful for what Attorney Abraham has achieved on their behalf.  The settlement will provide for them in the years ahead.  Sadly, its something their fallen husband and father cannot do.

Over the years, Hupy & Abraham has successfully represented more than 1,000 injured bikers.  Some of them and their families, like the Callahans, have received multi-million dollar settlements within one year of their accidents.

Awarded: $3,500,000.00
