$1,100,000 Verdict For Motorcyclist
Miguel Rivera, who was injured in a motorcycle accident on July 10, 1995, received a jury verdict of $1,100,000 on May 16, 2000. He was represented by Attorney Michael F. Hupy. Rivera was injured when he passed a car driven by Beth Vandeboom. Ms. Vandeboom claimed that she had turned on her left directional signal before turning into her driveway on Stone School Road in Mukwonago. Rivera disputed that her directional was on, saying that he followed the Vandeboom for 0.4 mile without seeing any brake lights or directional signals activated. Rivera worked at the Post Office for 20 years and had to take disability retirement this year because of a knee injury sustained in the accident. Rivera’s medical bills were $42,000, and he lost $50,000 in wages. His verdict was the largest in Milwaukee County in the past year.
