Wisconsin's seat belt law- Is it doing anything to protect drivers?

We reported on Wisconsin's new primary seat belt law many months ago.  At the time, we asked you weather you believed that the law infringed on your rights or if it was a good way to prevent serious injuries and deaths.

Thought the jury is still out on the effectiveness of the law, some of the numbers do not look good.  Last month there were 63 deaths on the roadways of Wisconsin.  This number is up five from last year despite an aggressive Click it or Ticket campaign.  Though we know that one month's worth of statistics do not definitively answer the question, it does stand to reason that if the law was as effective as hoped, deaths and serious injuries would begin to decrease.

The personal injury lawyers at Hupy & Abraham are saddened to hear about the numerous deaths so far this year.  Bikers, drivers and pedestrians have all lost their lives in accidents that were likely caused by one mistake from one driver.

This and every day we urge you, driver or biker, to drive defensively and avoid distraction.  One mistake, one phone call or drink could end a life.

The staff and attorneys at Hupy & Abraham would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family members of those who have lost their lives this year.
