Motorcycle Accident Prompts Police Chief to Speak Out Against Distracted Drivers

Distracted drivers do more than swerve and make other drivers angry.  Distracted drivers kill.  With the increasingly common habit of using cell phones in the car, along with the "need" to multi-task while driving, distracted drivers are dangerous.

As bikers we know this all too well.  We know that we must always drive defensively; never assuming that the cars and trucks around us will give us enough room or yield to the right of way.  However, even the most vigilant biker may fall victim to a distracted or careless driver.

Nobody knows this better than North Shore Police Battalion Chief Rick Boehlke.  Chief Boehlke recently responded to an accident that seriously injured a biker in Whitefish, WI and he agrees that drivers are a real threat to bikers.

"The majority of them get hit not because of their actions but because of the actions of others." said Boehlke. "The bikers are out there but they are not the obvious big target so we have to be more cognizant of them.  It seems cars are more willing to tailgate a motorcycle."

At Hupy & Abraham we have spent years and thousands of dollars trying to get the word out to "Watch for Motorcycles"  If you would like to be part of this important movement please contact us today and request your free "Watch for Motorcycles" bumper sticker.
