Do you have an IVF filter? Are you worried about your health?

If so, you are certainly not alone. The U.S. Federal Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a warning to doctors and patients alike. There have been over 900 adverse-event reports during the past five years. In this case "adverse-event reports" vary and include reports of the device breaking apart, becoming dislodged and perforating or puncturing the inferior vena cava.

Any of these events can be dangerous, even deadly. The likelihood of a device fracture or movement increases the longer the device is left in the body. The FDA has urged doctors to remove the filter as soon as the risk of a blood clot has passed.
