Disabled Bikers Unite, Find Many New Modifications

We have been reporting on disabled bikers and some new and exciting modifications that allow wheelchair-bound bikers an opportunity to operate their own motorcycles.  The Mobility Conquest Trike will soon be availble across the country.

In showrooms operated by Mobility Works, disabled bikers will be able to test out the modified BMW that allows bikers to stay in their chair, thereby eliminating the need for help in mounting and dismounting the bike.

A ramp and rail system at the back of the motorcycle allows the wheelcahir-bound biker to pull themselves onto the bike.  An electronic clamp holds the chair in place while a push-button cluster under the left-hand grip allows the biker to brake and change gears.

In addtion to exciting new techonolgy like the Conquest Trike, grassroots movements are taking hold, allowing disabled bikers to gather, in person and online, to share their struggles and triumphs.  Disabled Riders of America is one such organization.

The staff and attorneys at Hupy & Abraham are glad to see the movment toward enabling all disabled riders taking hold in America.  We hope that our ongoing coverage of these developments gives you valuable information and encourages bikers of all ability levels to enjoy the freedom of road.
