At Hupy & Abraham we prefer to report the good things about bikers, about their safety and about the laws upholding their rights. However, all too often we end up discussing accidents involving motorcycles and the damage they cause. Recent accidents in Wisconsin and Illinois highlight the dangers that bikers face as they hit the road. The real dangers are often not weather conditions, sharp turns or too high speeds; they are distracted and careless drivers.
Drivers, especially in the spring, do not take that extra second to look for motorcycles. They will change lanes too quickly, make turns without scanning the roadway and pull out of driveways without giving a second thought to motorcycles. There are countless examples of this. Recently a policeman on a motorcycle was hit in an intersection. His light were flashing, siren blaring, and still the driver pulled into the intersection and hit him. What to bikers have to do to get the attention they need? If flashing lights and sirens don't work, what will?
Though it may be a small step the staff and attorneys at Hupy & Abraham have been working to spread the word to "Watch for Motorcycles" through a state-wide advertising campaign. To date we have reached over 5 million people and we hope to affect real change through the campaign. One of the more popular and effective tools is our Watch for Motorcycles bumper sticker. The stickers are a real-time reminder for people to take that extra moment and be aware of motorcycles.
If you would like to join our campaign to prevent motorcycle accidents and increase motorcycle awareness please click here and fill out the short form to request your free bumper sticker. Please request one today. Together we just may save a life.
